The International Conference on Education and Technology (ICET) is an international conference in the field of education and technology initiated by the Faculty of Education, State University of Malang, Indonesia. The first ICET was held on 6-8 November 2015 at the FIP UM hall, Jl. Semarang No. 5 Malang. The first ICET raised the theme of Quality Improvement in Education and Training. Presenting 4 keynote speakers, including: 1. Dr. Jennifer Pei-Ling Tan (National Institute of Education, Singapore), 2. Dr. Makiko Kishi (Meiji University, Japan), 3. Mr. Stuart Weston (Director of Priority Programs, USAID, USA), and 4. Prof. Dr. Hendyat Soetopo, M.P.D. (State University of Malang, Indonesia). There were 78 articles published in the international proceedings.
Until 2016, the output of ICET activities was published in the Brisbane International Proceedings and in print. Starting in 2017, the proceedings were published online and started with the publisher Atlantis Press. Since 2018, ICET has successfully signed an MoU with IEEE to publish its manuscripts to IEEEXplore. Through a strict review process, only the top 40% of manuscripts are selected for publication in IEEE. Since 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 225 articles have been published in the IEEEXplore publisher, and all of them are indexed by Scopus. Since then, ICET has been considered one of the prestigious international conferences in education and technology in Indonesia and is hosted by many foreign authors.
At the 2024 ICET, ICET held a short and simple ceremony about the inauguration of 1 decade of ICET by presenting the first ICET initiator and also the dean of FIP for 2 periods, namely Prof. Dr. Bambang Budi Wiyono, M.Pd. In his speech, Prof. Bambang expressed his pride and happiness because ICET has been running for 10 years without stopping and continues to improve the quality of its implementation, both in terms of keynote speakers, the involvement of reviewers, and the origin of authors from various countries.
Ultimately, ICET has become and is expected to continue to be an academic platform for sharing the latest research findings in the fields of education and technology to discuss every problem and solution faced by education practitioners from a technological perspective. In addition, ICET has also been and will continue to be a platform for young researchers to be able to experience participating in prestigious international conferences and provide publication experience at the IEEEXplore publisher indexed by Scopus.
